Every brand we meet wants to be bold. Fewer want to be quiet. Yet the identities people remember a decade later are almost always the restrained ones: a wordmark, a colour, a way of speaking.
Restraint is a decision, not an absence
Leaving something out is harder than adding it. It means agreeing on what the brand is for, and trusting that a single idea, carried consistently, does more work than ten ideas competing for attention.
In practice we start every identity project with a list of what the brand will never do. That list usually shapes the system more than the moodboard.
